Lesson 2: Reading simple words in Hindi

In lesson 1 we have discussed the vowels and consonants of hindi, now we can learn how it is used in words.

Here we can discuss about the method to read the hindi words without maathraa(मात्रा)

For example for the English word "water", We say "जल".  Now let's know,  how to pronounce it.

First letter is 'ja' and second letter is 'la' , so we pronounce it as 'jala', but it is wrong.
We should read the last letter as consonant without the 'अ' maathraa. ie., "jal"

Next for the English word "pen", In Hindi we say "कलम",

First letter is 'ka', second letter is 'la', so it is 'kala', last letter is 'ma', so finally we get "kalama" But it is wrong. We should read the last letter as consonant without the 'अ' maathraa. ie., "kalam"

Same like that for the English word "hot", we say in hindi "गरम", ie.,"garam"

Now we shall read a set of words with its meaning
1.   Tap   नल     nal
2.   Mango आम aam
3.   We  हम ham
4.   House घर ghar
5.   Fruit फल fall
6.   When कब kab
7.    Ten दस dhas
8. Wave लहर lahar
9. Road सडक sadak
10. Lotus कमल kamal
